Catch Up

It's been a hectic few weeks since my last blog covering the Irish open. Three stops on the Irish Poker tour each resulting in Final table appearances including a trophy. A very enjoyable week spent playing poker in Malta with a couple of good cashes followed by a weeks holiday in Majorca.

recent cashes

I also managed to fit in two live satellites for Irish Poker Tours €400,000 Guaranteed Portugal adventure Festival which runs 18/24 June with a €700 Main Event. I won a €1500 package in the Eglington Casino Galway two weeks ago and picked up another package last weekend In the Sporting Emporium Dublin where I beat my good mate and great player Fintan Gavin to win a €2,000 package.

Trophy Eglington

The Irish Poker Tour had a convenient stop in my local The Eglington Casino Galway the week after the Irish Open. I managed to bag myself my first tour trophy of 2024 in the € 275 + 25 Pot Limit Omaha - 8-Max. First prize was €3,250. My friend Liam "Chevi" Chevalier coming third in the event.

Next up was the Malta Poker Festival where I had decent showings in the €550 main event and €1100 high  roller.

Rinty & me at Portomaso Casino

Malta is one of the nicest places I've ever visited for a poker event and I had a really enjoyable week. There was a good few IPT northern regulars over for the week including Paul 'Rinty' Monaghan and Alan Daly. The lads were the best of company and we managed to get few memorable tourist excursions in over the week to go along with plenty poker.

I finished 170th of  the 1460 entries in the €550 Main Event doubling my buy in for €1,000 cash out. I was going along nicely but couldn't fade a flush draw with all the chips going in on the flop for a massive stack in my exit  hand.

The €1,100 buy-in high roller saw a return of €2,360 for finishing 12th of the 142 starters. Again I played very well in this event but couldn't win the important flip that would have given me a close to chip leading stack heading for the final table.

After Malta I went to Majorca for a weeks holidays before returning home. The next week it was nice to bink the Portugal; package in the Eglington before heading to Ballinasloe.

The €200 No Limit Hold'em - Ballinasloe Main Event had 96 runners with ten paid. I made the final table  with a big chip lead but went out early in 8th for a €600 payout. I'm afraid I got caught here with my hands in the cookie jar bluffing off a huge stack in a big move. But hey them's the breaks, I didn't get the nick name for folding.

Chipped up - The Siege of Clonmel

Last weekend it was down south for the Irish Poker Tour - The Siege of Clonmel, Festival in Clonmel town.

I played two events in this final tabling both on single bullets. A 4th place in the mystery bounty for €950 was followed with a 6th place in the €250 main event paying €3040 in fields of 59 & 297 players.

I then topped a great month of cashes with the 2nd Portugal Package in the Sporting Monday night. It had been a good months work since the Irish Open and this coming month looks just as busy.

I'm off to Dust til Dawn in Nottingham tomorrow for the week playing the £ 500 + 60 No Limit Hold'em - EAPT UK Main Event Day which has a half a million guaranteed prize pool.

A week later 10th to 17th June I'll be in Malaga for the Estrellas Poker Tour - ESPT/UKIPT and then Flying From Malaga to Lisbon for the much anticipated Irish Poker Tours €400,000 Guaranteed Portugal adventure Festival which runs 18/24 June with a €700 Main Event.

Hopefully following that run of festivals I can make it to Vegas for WSOP Main Event and take in another few tournaments in the poker capital of the world.
