Irish Poker Tour - Summer in Dublin

Upcoming Event

Before I do a recap since my last blog I'd like to bring the readers attention to a super upcoming festival and a lovely promotion that's free and open to all.

The Irish Poker Tours €300 buyin €150,000 guaranteed main event "Summer in Dublin" festival at the Green Isle Hotel looks like being the top event of the summer on these shores. As is always the case with the IPT a great chance of a big score for a small buy in. This is a five day festival running from the 23rd to 27th of July and offers multiple side events everyday to suit every pocket. A full festival schedule can be found here

WPT Global are running a fantastic promotion in conjunction with The Irish Poker Tour where you can win a €720 package every night in a "Freeroll" over the coming week. The package includes a €300 buyin to the main event, accommodation and if you win the Main Event qualifying with WPT Global you get €100,000 bonus. I recently got one of these packages  where I'm now eligible for 100k bonus if I win that event. What an exciting promotion and you can grab one too for free still with a week of the promotion left to run. Details here

Catch up

I was off to the Irish Open full of hope and confidence finishing my last blog. Tournament poker is a great leveler and things didn't go great at the RDS and haven't been great since. I can't really do too much whinging as I've been on a great run the last two years and downswings are as much a part of the tournament grinds as upswings.

I managed three cashes at the Irish Open Festival. I finished 46th of  the 577 players in the €300  Mystery Bounty event for €600,  233rd of the 2502 players in the €250 Mini Irish Open for €1,100 and 439th of the 4492 entries in the €1,150 buy in Irish Open Main Event for €2,270.

Although I wouldn't have turned a profit on the two weeks of the Irish open this year I thoroughly enjoyed the event. This years festival broke all records and we're very lucky to have such a great event on our doorstep every year. Well done to everyone involved in staging the 2025 edition.

My Irish open was followed by two trips abroad; Winamax Morocco and WPT Bratislava. Two very enjoyable trips off the poker tables but just the one cash small cash in Morocco to show for my poker endeavors. To sum up April/May they were enjoyable time spent with good friends but costly on the bankroll.

Trophy's Dundalk/Portlaoise

It was back to winning ways by the end of june thankfully. A first place in the  €150 entry Final Fling at the Northern Poker Festival Dundalk for €1600 was followed with an early July 1st place finish and trophy at the Portlaoise one dayer €150 buy in Omaha 7-Max for €1.220. Both small wins but they were big  boosts for my confidence and very welcome additions to the trophy cabinet.

Mary & Steven

I cant finish the blog without giving a shoutout and my congratulations to a couple of Irish Poker Tour regulars and recent winners, Mary Galvin and Steven Lee. Mary has been a serial final tablaist over the last two years on the tour. A lovely person and quality poker player, Mary recorded two well deserved recent wins. €4,000 for first at the siege of Clonmel festival in late May was followed with another win in Dundalk for €2,200

There's not been many Irish Poker Tour Event that go by without seeing Steven at the payout desk chasing in an event. Steven is a top player and top man so it was great to see him take first place and top prize of €8,010 at last weekends Portlaoise one dayer. Well done to both and well played.

I was recently a guest on the "Chip Race" podcast where I talk about playing poker professionally and addiction. you can have a listen here.

Also IrishPokerTour did a nice article in recognition of me passing the million mark in HendonMob lifetime cashes which I managed at this years Irish Open.

Until the next blog, be lucky at the tables.
